Why is Lorita Running

Something is Wrong.
Our founders built a system designed to serve the people, not the other way around.
The U.S. Constitution affirms this clearly: “We the People” establish that all power is vested in, and consequently derived from, the people, and that government exists “to serve the common good, ensure justice, and secure the blessings of liberty for all.” These words must continue to guide us, even when our economy is shattered, our politics are shattered, our healthcare is shattered and our relationships with one another is also shattered.
We must not forget that the power still belongs to us—even during these challenging times.
I want to remind you that you do not have to silence your voices during these chaotic times. Instead reflect, reset and re-envision what you want to see for your community.
I am here to renew the promises of “We the People” to ensure every voice and person is heard and included, every community is represented, and every person can see their government working for them.
If we truly believe in “We the People,” then we must rebuild the bridges to connect across generations because we have different experiences, different vocabularies and different time periods in how we see the world.
As a former military spouse who has lived in multiple countries and learned several languages, I know what it means to face the unknown with courage, adaptability, and purpose — qualities I’ll bring with me as I serve in Congress.
My mother was a fighter who raised four children on her own in Georgia, rising from having no income to becoming a general manager of a successful restaurant chain. She taught me the power of resilience — to rebuild, to persevere, and to rise stronger, no matter the stories society tries to write for us.
It is this same determination that I will bring to serving our district.
It’s time to have new conversations— to listen, to learn from one another, and to find common ground that honors both tradition and progress.
I am not here to make a name for myself; I am here to make it right

To those who want to reenvision what we could be, to those who want to have meaningful conversations, to those who love Commonwealth and most of all to those who voices have often been left in the lower room or at the bottom of the ladder—this is your moment to lift your voices into the upper room.
